Q: What conditions does the spine clinic treat?
A: Our clinic specializes in diagnosing and treating a wide range of spinal conditions, including but not limited to herniated discs, spinal stenosis, sciatica, degenerative disc disease, and osteoporosis.
Q: Are there any non-surgical treatments available for back pain?
A: Yes, there are many non-surgical treatments for back pain, including physical therapy, pain management techniques, medication, and lifestyle modifications. Our specialists will work with you to determine the best course of action based on your specific condition.
Q: Do I need a referral to see a specialist at the spine clinic?
A: It depends on your insurance plan. Some insurance providers require a referral from a primary care physician, while others allow patients to schedule appointments directly with specialists. We recommend checking with your insurance provider.

Q: Does it matter which physician I see?
A: Our physicians are board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) and fellowship trained in Interventional Spine. If you are unsure which physician you need to see, please call our office, and we will help you schedule an appointment for your specific condition.
Q: What should I bring to my appointment?
A: If you are a new patient, please complete the patient forms prior to your appointment.
In order for us to better serve you, it is very important that you bring the following items to your visit:
- Photo identification
- Your health insurance card and co-payment
- A list of current medications
- Any and all previous X-ray, MRI, CT, or bone scans
- Your referring physician and primary care physician’s name, address, & phone number
- A list of your questions and concerns
- Completed patient forms
Billing FAQs
Q: What insurance plans do you accept?
A: Carolina Spine Center accepts all major insurance plans, including Aetna/Coventry, Blue Cross, Cigna, Humana, Humana Military/Tricare East, MedCost, Medicaid, Medicare, Multiplan/PHCS, and United Healthcare.
Q: Do I need to contact my insurance company?
A: Please make yourself aware of your insurance coverage. Most plans require an out-of-pocket expense. All copays are due at the time of service.
It is best to check with your insurance company before making an appointment to determine if your visit will be covered. Call the member number on the back of your insurance card for assistance.
Q: Does my insurance company require an authorization?
A: Most insurance companies do require an authorization. Our staff will take care of obtaining a pre-authorization for you. You will be notified upfront if we are unable to obtain one.
Q: Is a co-payment required at each visit?
A: Yes, a specialist copay is due at each visit.
